While my outside garden is growing, I thought I would show you some of the indoor plants that I have growing.  You will note that one of my Christmas Cactuses is in bloom; the other one just finished a week ago.  Also, my Lipstick Plant is blooming much to my surprise since I have had this plant for over a year without a single bloom.  I am so happy to finally see my Lipstick Plant in bloom!

For a month now I have seen hummingbirds on my deck.  This is the earliest that I have spotted hummingbirds in my area so I am very pleased.  Thank goodness I did put out the hummingbird feeder because they have been drinking from it.  I think they must also like the flowers that I have planted this year and that is what is attracting them to my deck.  I say “them” because I know there is more than one hummingbird coming to my deck.  I have seen a green and red hummingbird, which I have named “Red”.  However, I have also seen more than once, a ruby throat hummingbird within arms length which I have name “Ruby Red”!  The funny thing is that my dogs were also on the deck barking at a car coming up the driveway when I was so close to Ruby Red and he just kept drinking from the hummingbird feeder.

This is the earliest I have seen hummingbirds on my deck so I am wondering when my flowers really grow what I am going to see!

These little birds love to sit on top of my tomato cages and rest.  One day I watch from my slider a hummingbird just sitting still, not flapping his wings and taking a good look around my deck as if to take note of what flowers he will be drinking from in the future.

Hummingbirds are fun to watch and I am really enjoying this special treat!

I have finally completed planting my deck garden for the season and moving my tropical plants outside.  In the process of doing this, I noticed that my lipstick plant has flower buds which will open soon.  I have been waiting for more than a year for my lipstick plant to bloom so this was a very pleasant surprise!  You will also see a glimpse of Nikki my Silky Yorkie (look under the table and you will see her behind!) and Sammy my Chi-Pom in the pictures.

I will keep you posted on the growth of all my plants!

Enjoy!

Well it is May 5, 2014 and I am pleased with my deck garden so far this year.  Of course I still have to plant cucumbers and get a few more tomato plants, along with a few more flowers.  However, I noticed that some of my pots from last year have flowers growing.

In addition, today I saw my first hummingbird of the season right on my deck drinking at my hummingbird feader!
