To President Obama

I am hoping that this blog reaches you or someone in your office as it is the quickest and easiest way I can think of reaching you and talking to you about the new health care website.

I know that this website has had its share of problems that have not been resolved yet.   I know because it took me several tries to actually complete an application.  Even after getting into the web site it was difficult to use because you could not edit certain sections or could not get back to certain sections to make corrections.  As a result, I listed an incorrect vehicle and the web site would not allow me to correct this; hopefully it is not a big deal.

I was able to complete and submit my re-application this past Saturday and for that hopefully it will be a little more clear sailing from now on for me.

One thing that really bothered me was the specific use of the word “alien” within this website.  As a permanent resident, I had to provide more information than an American citizen and I do not have a problem with that.  However, being referred to as an “alien’ did bother me quite some bit.

You see, although I am a Permanent Resident and not a citizen of this country, my family roots are up and down the East Coast with many family members having grown up and buried in this country and many family members still alive and living in this country.  So, to be referred to as an “alien” was disheartening.

Call me a Permanent resident or an immigrant and I do not mind.  After all, the majority of American citizens come from family that originally immigrated to this country.  But to call me an “alien”; I am not an alien as I am not from Mars or any other planet.

I think that the use of this wording in your new Obama care web site should be addressed as quickly as possible because I am sure that I must not be the only one who took offense to such wording.

Thank you for the time you will take into looking into this as I do feel that this term is discriminatory.

Today is October 14, 2013 and to my surprise my deck garden is still growing and producing fruit and vegetables.  I had cut down my large tomato plants and now they have started to grow again; I am still harvesting grape and cherry tomatoes from my other plants.  I noticed today that my green pepper plant, which I thought was dead has a few small green peppers growing.  I am still eating strawberries and there are still strawberries that need to ripen.  I have green onions growing and as you can see my petunias are now black petunias which is the color that I originally bought but this summer were red!  Go figure!

I am pleased as punch that my deck garden is still producing and still flowering!  I cannot believe that it is growing so well this time of year when I thought it was finished for the season.  It just goes to show you that you should never give up on your garden too soon at the end of summer.

I know I have already published one blog on the rising cost of auto insurance rates!  However, I really hate it when the “big guys” conglomerate to rain misery on us ordinary individuals.  After fuming about my car insurance renewal rate, I did some investigative work to make sure that my insurance agent had checked around for the lowest rate; well she did and my annual quote was by far the lowest rate.

I could not believe the quotes from insurance companies who are “infamous” for the commercials trying to make you believe that they can quote you a better price for insurance than what you are currently receiving.  One such “popular” insurance company was actually $400.00 more expensive and had the nerve to ask me if I thought that was an incredible great price!  Sure, I want to pay over $1000.00 for car insurance on a two year old vehicle and a perfect driving record!

I can’t help but wonder what the auto industry is doing to “reign” in these outrageous rates that insurance companies are holding us hostage on.  After all, if I am paying $130 (and that’s the lowest quote) this year for car insurance than I was last year for the same vehicle that is a year older this year (and me too) with a perfect driving record, what are others paying?

I may be able to afford to buy a new vehicle but would not be able to afford the car insurance and the excise tax it would cost me to buy one.

It is no wonder that the auto industry is having difficulties trying to sell new vehicles!  My final word is that the auto industry needs to step up to the plate and do something about the insurance industry.  After all, it is the insurance industry that is hitting the auto industry right in the pocket by making unaffordable for us to buy their new vehicles.

I just received my new yearly policy in the mail today and to my horror, my premium has gone up by $100.00.  I have not been in any accidents, not had any DUI’s, not had any break-ins, and I have not bought another vehicle.

You would think that with a 99 rating and my vehicle being a year older than last year that my premium would be less than last year, not more.

This same thing happened to me last year when I received my yearly premium notice and phoned my insurance company who found me someone cheaper.  Again, it is happening this year.  Seems to me that the insurance companies plan on doing this and hope that we do not notice the increase and just go ahead and pay our car insurance.

For me, I save all year so that when my insurance comes due I can pay the total amount owed.  I am really getting sick of being taken advantage of.

So, again this year, I am going to have to contact my insurance agent and see why the increase and what other company they can find for me that gives me a realistic yearly premium.

It seems nowadays that you have to check everything and fight for reasonable rates.  It really does get tiring.

Now, I really liked the car policy and company I was with but not $100 more!  You would think that these car insurance companies would keep their rates reasonable to keep the customers that they already have.
